Discord Text Art & ASCII Art
Type a word to turn it into a big banner made of blocks or emoji, or copy ready-made ASCII art. Everything is formatted so it keeps its shape when you paste it into Discord.
Letters A–Z, numbers, ! ? . - and <3 for a heart. Block styles are copied inside a code block so the letters line up in Discord.
Text art to copy
Multi-line pieces are copied inside a code block, ready to paste into a message.
Why ASCII art breaks on Discord, and the fix
Discord shows messages in a proportional font, where an i is much narrower than an m. ASCII art is drawn on a grid, so pasted as plain text it falls apart. The fix is a code block: put three backticks on the line before the art and three on the line after.
``` /\_/\ ( o.o ) > ^ < ```
Code blocks use a monospace font where every character is the same width, so the art lines up for everyone. The copy buttons on this page add the code block for you. A code block also stops Discord from treating characters like *, _ and > as formatting.
Emoji banners
Emoji are all the same width, so emoji banners line up without a code block. They are also much bigger in chat. Two things to watch:
- Width: Discord wraps long lines, especially on phones. Two or three letters is the safe maximum for an emoji banner, and around 30 characters wide for a block banner.
- Length: a banner can use hundreds of characters. The counter under the banner shows the total against the 2,000-character message limit.
Where text art works
- Messages and forum posts: everything on this page works. Multi-line art needs the code block.
- About Me: bios support code blocks and new lines, but the 190-character limit only fits small pieces like the cat or bunny.
- Display names and statuses: these are a single line, so use one-line art like
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻or a kaomoji. - Rules and welcome channels: a pinned message with a banner like the server rules sign makes a server look finished.
Drawing your own
- Draw in a monospace font, such as the code block in Discord itself, so you see the real spacing.
- Keep lines under about 30 characters so the art doesn’t wrap on phones.
- Box-drawing characters like
╔ ═ ╗ ║ ╚ ╝make clean frames. Find them in the symbols collection under Box drawing. - Avoid emoji inside code-block art: emoji are wider than other characters and push the lines out of place.
Discord Text Art & ASCII Art: common questions
How do you make ASCII art on Discord?
Paste the art between two lines of three backticks (```) so Discord shows it in a code block with a monospace font. Every copy button on this page adds the code block for you.
Why does my ASCII art look broken on Discord?
Discord’s normal message font isn’t monospace, so characters have different widths and the art loses its shape. Put it in a code block, and keep it under about 30 characters wide so it doesn’t wrap on phones.
How do I make big letters on Discord?
Type a word in the banner generator at the top of this page and copy it. For one big line of text without art, start a message line with # and a space to make a heading.
Can I put ASCII art in my Discord bio?
Yes, small pieces fit. Your About Me supports code blocks and new lines, but the 190-character limit includes the backticks, so pick short art like the cat or bunny.
Why do my emoji banners wrap onto the next line?
The line is wider than the chat window, which happens quickly on phones. Use two or three letters, or switch to a block style in a code block.
